de·li·cious [dih-lish-uhs] –adjective. Highly pleasing to the senses, especially to taste or smell: a delicious dinner; a delicious aroma.

I’m from a small town in the Midwest and Moonlight Drive In totally reminds me of a place my grandparents used to take me growing up. My eyes would bug out and I’d grin from ear to ear as they’d let me get the biggest milkshake I wanted (marshmallow if you must know). Even back then I could clearly tell the difference between an awesome mom and pop shop and chain burger joints. That enjoyment has remained with me for years, which is probably why I’m in love with this little local restaurant in Titusville called Moon-Light!

If I wasn’t such a semi-health conscious person who always worked out, I’d probably eat here everyday. No joke. While I love my greasy food as much as the rest of ya, I do try to restrain myself. If there are some of you out there that enjoy this place often, I’m secretly jealous!

I’m often tempted by the smells of my coworkers lunch. Dang them. Most of you know what I’m talking about when I say you can clearly tell the difference between places like these, and driving through McDonalds. Flame broil all ya want, these guys are still better! (I think that may have been a Burger King reference but you get my point.)

I should move on from their burgers and fill you in on the rest of their menu. Picture a 1960′s style drive in – both the atmosphere and the food. That is Moonlight! From the time you pull up, the retro menu will be right in front of your car and the waitress will come take your order when you’re ready. A lot of people comment on how friendly the waitstaff is, and they are. When you’re locally family owned and operated like Moonlight is, it’s easy to enjoy what you do. It’s likely you’ll have a difficult time ordering – who wouldn’t when you’ve got classics like chili dogs, fried shrimp baskets, onion rings and malts in front you? Can you say one of everything?

  1. Ah, the memories! Affectionately called “Greasy Spoon”, this drive up diner was the destination of many late night runs for ice cream. Back in the 80′s (probably before you were even born) they started making the most interesting soft serve with pieces of candy bars whipped into it (their Snickers rocked). McDonalds must have been spying because they stole the idea and now we know them as McFlurry’s. It’s so nice to still have the same family owning and operating it all these years later.
