Great news! This morning we finally got a chance to eat breakfast at The Barking Gecko Grill in Merritt Island – yay! It’s been on the list for awhile, so now that the Florida Fall weather is creeping into the area, we needed something hot and fresh to warm us up. Although breakfast is good anytime of the year, this morning it felt extra good to have a homemade meal at one of Brevard’s local restaurants.
Opting for the “Big Breakfast,” it was big indeed – both big in portion size and I myself left feeling a little…bigger after eating. Not listed on The Barking Gecko Grill menu, the large sign inside informs you you’ll be getting two eggs served your way, two bacon or two sausage, your choice of potato, plus two pancakes or two pieces of French toast. For $6.95, that’s a lot of food! As you can see from the photo below, our selections consisted of scrambled eggs, four slices of bacon, hash browns and chocolate chip pancakes. Look at all of that food!
You really did get heaping portions of food – they didn’t skimp on the side of hash browns and the pancakes were about a half an inch thick each – melt in your mouth delicious. My table mates opted for something similar, plus a Veggie Burrito and a little something from their kids menu. A young, small family could easily dine here for under $20.00.
We stopped in on a Saturday morning around 9:00, and that was the perfect time. As it probably varies from day to day, any later and the tables may have all been full – apparently we aren’t the only ones wanting to check out The Barking Gecko Grill! If we haven’t made your stomach start growling yet, their interior decor may be just the finishing thought to get you to stop in. Where else can you say you’ve dined in a jungle-like atmosphere with colorful lizards on the walls?
